5.2 The Router Does Not Boot Normally
With a terminal or PC connected to the router COM or CONSOLE port, access the Local Management application and note
the prompt displayed, if any.
Did the “Router(boot)>” prompt display?
YN
Did the “System Configuration Dialog” display with the following message?
Configuration interface IP parameters for netbooting:
YN
Did the System Configuration Dialog display?
YN
Call Cabletron Technical Support.
Enter the information requested. Then press Return.
Did the “Router(boot)>” prompt display?
YN
Call Cabletron Technical Support.
At the prompt, type in:
en
The prompt, Router(boot)# displays.
Type in:
config t
Press Return.
Type in:
config-register 0x2102
Press Return.
Press CTRL-Z
Type in:
reload
Press Return.
Does the router boot normally?
YN
Did the prompt “Router(boot)>” display?
YN
Did the normal “Router>” prompt display with the router still trying to load its configuration
off the network?
(For example: “Loading network | config... [timeout]”)
YN
Call Cabletron Technical Support.
Wait until the router stops trying to load its configuration off the network.
Press Return.
The prompt
Router > displays.
At the prompt, type in:
en and enter the enable password.
Type in:
config t
Press Return.
Type in:
no service config
Press Return.
Press CTRL-Z
Press Return.
Type in:
wr
Press Return.
